I just partitioned by 1T hard drive on my Mid iMac. I downloaded and installed macOS High Sierra on my 2nd partition. My 1st partition runs os I also installed 8gm s in the top slots and put the original s in the lower slots for a total of 12GB. When High Sierra finished installing on the new partition in booted into it with no problem. I then tried to restart with option pressed and got a black panic kernel display.
